The printer and scanner both work "as expected". The TR8520 is seemingly not as sturdy as the all-in-one model it replaced, the MX922. Canon seems to be making successive generations of its printers smaller and more compact, and lighter, but not as sturdy as previous models; "cheaper" is the impression one gets. I buy the Canon printers that use five ink cartridges so that I only replace the cartridge in which the ink has run out, not replacing all three color inks when only one color is empty. It's less expensive that way. For me that's definitely a selling point. Setup for use as a wi-fi device wasn't exactly "easy" and I did run into a few problems with getting everything working correctly, but I was able to figure it out. But I'm not sure that people without a good deal of experience working with computers and their components would have managed to get it all set up without a fair amount of help ... from ????. Canon's all-in-ones seem to be a pretty good value for the money and last a reasonable time before needing to be replaced. I really do not like the way that the front panel has to be lifted up on the TR8520. I'm anticipating problems down the road with that... . Just a sense. For an inexpensive all-in-one the Canon TR8520 is a good value and does seem to work well; for the purposes of most users I think that it does everything an all-in-one needs to do. Read full review
